A local artist producing stunning artwork of this historic town.

  St Andrews Harbour

St Andrews in North-East Fife is a very historic town, located in a stunning part of eastern Scotland. Famous for being the Home of Golf, St Andrews has also played an important role in religion and has the third oldest university in the English-speaking world.  Artist Jonathan Dowling calls St Andrews his home town. He grew up there, went to university there and works there. Despite a background in landscape archaeology and vernacular building study, Jonathan has in the past few years followed his dream of becoming an artist. He spent his childhood drawing and undertook many art classes and courses while growing up, including at Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee. Largely self-taught, Jonathan specialises in, and is well-known for, detailed graphite drawings. He also creates unique and original mixed media artwork, using a variety of materials, including graphite, pastel, paint, liquid graphite and chalk

This page is dedicated to his artwork and drawings portraying his home town of St Andrews. His other artwork, including drawings on wood, commissions and mixed media work, is available to see on our sister website: www.jonathandowlingart.co.uk

His work is owned in private collections in Britain, USA, Canada, India, China, France and Spain. He exhibits his work across Scotland and takes part in Open Studios and numerous art and craft fairs.

Please email him at jonathandowlingart@gmail.com for any questions you may have. You can see his drawings in the  galleries at the top of the page and he is adding to these regularly. An online shop selling hand mounted and signed prints and greetings cards will be available soon!
